Insuring your car is mandatory in today’s world. The insurance covers all damages caused during an accident and helps you save money. But the cost of insuring your car varies from brand to brand and providers. Depending on the parts and spares available, insurance providers will have a monthly or annual premium which you have to pay. The cars around the world are priced at various different levels.

Listed below are the 5 cheapest and most expensive cars to insure for 2013:

Ford Edge SE: This is Ford’s latest and economical SUV. The vehicle is known for its safety and economy. Insurance providers have annual premiums for this car. The average being $1,128 (approximately £720). This is the cheapest insurance premium you need to pay for a year.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo: Jeep is perhaps the oldest brand in the world to make SUVs. From the old wrangler to the Cherokee, Jeep has dominated the SUV market by a storm. The insurance providers have various premiums and options you can choose from for each car Jeep offers. The Cherokee Laredo has an average of $1,148 (about £733). Affordable yet amazing.

Kia Sportage: Kia is a Korean based company that is known for its quality of both technology and performance. The Kia Sportage is a crossover which is an experience in itself. Insurance providers have an average premium of $1,157 (approx. £738) annually.

Subaru Outback 3.6R: Subaru is known for its performance in the rally and World Rally Championship circuit. As the company expanded, the Outback was born. A luxury crossover, this is a lovely ride. The insurance premium is at an average of $1,180 (around £753) annually.

Hyundai Tucson GLS: Hyundai is known for its edgy and elegant looks from Korea. The Tucson is a luxurious SUV which has a history in performance too. Insurance is around $1,189 (approximately £759) as a premium annually.

The most expensive segment:

  • Mercedes-Benz CL600: Performance unlimited is the best definition for a Merc. The CL600 is pure luxury on four wheels. But the insurance premium is the highest in the world. At an average of $3,357 (about £2,145) annually, the CL600 is the most expensive insurance you need to pay.
  • Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG: The S-class of the German legends is a masterpiece. From its state of the art interiors for the massive performance. When they collaborated with AMG to bring you the S65 AMG, they gave a boost. This monster performer has an average insurance premium of $3,221 (close to £2,057) annually.
  • Mercedes-Benz S600: Luxury on four wheels. Personal safety and comfort is what drives this car to be loved even more. Insurance soars at $3,158 (approx. £2,017) on an average in annual premiums.
  • Porsche 911 Turbo: True to its reputations, Porsche has always been leading when it came to performance vehicles. Insurance for the 911 averages around $2,958 (approximately £1,889) as a premium annually.
  1. Porsche 911 Turbo S: The advanced version of the 911, this Turbo S is perhaps the best handling ride on the track as well as any place you want to go. The average annual insurance premium is about $2,925 (£1,868).

If notice the fact that SUVs and crossovers have a lower insurance premium than sports cars or sedans.
